Description
An opportunity has arisen for a Genetic Technologist with a passion for developing new molecular assays.

The post is for one year in the first instance, funded by Synnovis Innovation to support the laboratory's development of new tests to expand the service delivery repertoire of the section.

The post would suit genetic technologists with experience in diagnostic assay development who want to explore this area further.

The successful individual would support the lab in designing and evaluating assays, presenting findings at meetings and writing standard operating procedures.

They would also be involved in the implementation of tests into service, therefore there will be a requirement for staff training, risk assessments, LIMS updates and quality management documentation for UKAS.

  • Manage research samples and book them into the laboratory informatics system (LIMS)
  • Organise DNA extraction on a range of samples potentially using different methods
  • Undertake molecular testing, such as Sanger Sequencing and TaqMan assays. They will need to be able to trouble shoot these assays and be able to suggest changes to prevent reoccurrence of issues. They will also need to write procedures that ensure that diagnostic staff avoid making similar results when the assay goes into service.

You will have a suite of learning opportunities available through The Synnovis Way Development programme, the Scientific Learning and Development Fund and the Synnovis Academy through which you can receive funding / support for advanced qualifications.

Our Bank workers enjoy competitive market rates and flexible contract assignments across all of our sites, dependant on your availability and location.
