My job makes lives better by providing specialist assessment, formulation, and interventions to children and young people and their families within the New Leaf Specialist Services, with a particular focus on unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.


THRIVE Model:


The new children's Surrey Health and Emotional Well-being Alliance incorporating the Surrey Well-being Partnership, Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust, Barnado's, National Autistic Society, Learning Space and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust are in an exciting and transformational phase of mobilising a holistic mental health and emotional wellbeing service for the children and families of Surrey embedded within the THRIVE model led by our Tavistock and Portman partners.


New Leaf Specialist Services sits within the 'Getting More Help' and 'Risk Support' parts of the THRIVE model offering specialist intensive intervention to children, young people and their families/carers.

The teams work is underpinned by developmental trauma and attachment theories, employing therapeutic approaches based upon evidence-based practice and current research and is provided in collaboration with children, young people, parents/carers and the professional network.

The post-holder will work closely with Surrey's UASC Care Leavers to improve their mental health and well-being.

The practitioner will work with a strong multi-agency focus providing assessment, one to one and group therapeutic support and referring UASC care leavers to wider services where appropriate based upon their needs.


The practitioner will contribute to health assessments and promote awareness amongst other professionals within Surrey about the mental health of UASC care leavers and looked after children.

The Practitioner will have a robust understanding of the needs of unaccompanied young people, including evidence-based approaches and develop innovative, creative ways of engaging them in the therapeutic process.
