The role:

We are looking for a driver to be responsible for assisting the Donation Centre Driver in collecting and delivering goods to private houses and shops, liaising with both the customer and the shop.

You will also support the manager in the day to day running of the shop, working alongside our volunteers. This role will involve an extensive amount of manual handling.

General duties:

Always give exceptional standards of customer service
To help deliver and collect goods from private houses and shops as directed
Help the driver in planning the most efficient route for each delivery/collection
Undertaking other duties, as required, in the store as directed by the DC manager, which may include serving customers in the shop and helping out with general duties
Unload deliveries and sort donations, keeping saleable items and preparing them for sale
Assist in the sorting and preparation of all donated stock
Maintain a positive and supportive working relationship with all of our volunteers
Support the Shop Manager in all aspects of best practice and Health and Safety Procedures
A full and current driving licence
Manual handling experience
A passion for charity retailing
Excellent customer service skills
Knowledge of the legislation regarding furniture and household goods (not essential)
Knowledge of the local area
Commitment to the ethos and values of The Salvation Army Trading Company
