Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Neighbourhood Administrator on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their Children and Learning department.


Main purpose of position:


To provide a range of administrative support to the Neighbourhood team including data input and control, carrying out financial and administrative procedures, minuting meetings and monitoring budgets.


As aNeighbourhood Administrator, youwill be responsible to:

  • Undertake administrative procedures for the Service.
  • Undertake a range of budgetary functions utilising the Council's Financial Management System and spreadsheet packages.
  • Arrange, attend and minute meetings, including disciplinary or other procedural interviews ensuring that statements are accurately recorded. Produce an approved typed set of minutes or notes and distribute to relevant parties.
  • Undertake financial procedures including petty cash, cash advances, cheque requisitions, purchase requisitions, central billing, invoice payment including expenditure coding of invoices. Process time sheets and overtime claims.
  • Provide word processing/audio typing to support the needs of the neighbourhood and neighbourhood management including the production of detailed reports, letters, publicity materials and electronic mail.
  • Collect, analyse and interpret complex statistical information, manipulating and presenting data in a comprehensible format.
  • Respond to enquiries by the general public including giving information directly where possible recording information as per departmental procedures or passing enquiries on to an appropriate employee or section with the Council.
  • Contribute to the compilation and updating of a control procedures manual for use within the Section, distributing new procedures and relevant information to all Divisions within the Department.
  • Ensure that all Licences essential to the running of Youth Clubs i.e. Public Entertainment Licences, Performing Rights Licences and Phonographic Licences are completed accurately and submitted to meet the relevant deadlines.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable administrative experience, including maintaining administrational procedures.
  • Demonstrable experience of using I.T. and office software systems including; Financial Information Systems plus experience in WORD, EXCEL or equivalents
  • Demonstrable oral communications skills able to advise clearly and accurately
  • Able to work with mínimal supervision and as a member of a team to achieve strict deadlines and targets and priorities
  • Demonstrable Numeracy skills able to analyse and interpret large amounts of data and produce comprehensible statistics
  • Demonstrable written communications skills produce clear and unambiguous reports, minutes and correspondence
  • Recognised administration qualification to NVQ 2/3 Level OR qualification OR equivalent experience
  • RSA II typing/word processing OR equivalent qualification OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to attend sites throughout the Borough (as required)
  • Able to adjust hours of work on occasions to meet service requirements
