The Directorate of Student and Academic Services are currently recruiting to the role of Course Advisor, to join our newly established Faculty Student Centres.

The role will suit an experienced administrator, with experience in accurate record management and keen eye for detail.

This is a 12 Month Maternity Fixed Term Contract


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the administration of all professional placements for HELS students to ensure students have a variety of placement experiences, and to maintain records on relevant information systems.
  • Supporting academic leadership with the planning of all placements by arranging and servicing meetings with partners and other placement providers.
  • Work collaboratively with the Placements Finance and Reporting Analyst and Placements Payments Advisor to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data returns and payments.
  • Maintain regular contact and constructive relationships with organisations we work with to provide student placements, resolving problems, addressing queries, and explaining processes. Provide written follow up to any actions to enable tracking if necessary.
  • Processing student travel reimbursement claims and Occupational Health referrals and reports.

Skills and Experience:


  • A high level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Relevant qualifications such as GSCE Maths and English or higher and Educated to Alevel standard or Relevant administrative experience.
  • Excellent IT skills including advanced knowledge of webbased solution, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software packages, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience of providing high quality customer service in a complex environment.
  • Experience of maintaining student or other complex records accurately.
  • Experience of working successfully as part of a team.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex regulations to students and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage own time and workload.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to support, guide and inform as necessary.
