Full Time, 35 hours per week

Fixed term for 2 years from 1 September August 2025

We are looking for a postdoctoral Research Fellow with experience in neuro-imaging and/or physiological monitoring to engage in research on the neuropolitics of digital influence.

Funded by the Edinburgh Futures Institute, you will be based in the Neuropolitics Research Lab (NRlabs), and will work across the needs of NRlabs and its sister lab, the Digital Influence and Intelligence Lab (DIIL).

The post may be suitable for two part time applicants.


The Opportunity:


Working with the NRLabs & DIIL teams you will help develop and implement a neuro-imaging and biometric measure protocol for rapid deployment in response to consultancy demands.

You will c onduct original independent research in the areas of neuropolitics and digital influence, produce peer-reviewed journal articles, a nalysis and publication of a series of pilot neuro-imaging and bio-metric data.

You will support the development and implementation of external research and consultancy projects and bids, engaging collaboratively with colleagues across the University and our external partners, and carry out administrative tasks associated with the delivery of these objectives.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD in cognitive, affective or social neuroscience or other related discipline.
  • Relevant postdoctoral experience (or equivalent work experience) in neuroimaging and/or physiological monitoring (for example, using eyetracking, biometric measures, psychophysiological approaches, faceemotion coding).
  • Excellent research skills, with a proven understanding of the demands of working in an interdisciplinary context.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, supported by good IT skills.
  • Demonstrable understanding of ethical frameworks and a commitment to good governance practices for research.
