Description
If you're looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities, join HSBC and experience the possibilities.

Whether you want a role that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC has put the transition to net-zero at the centre of its corporate strategy and is building out its Climate Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Global Sustainability to achieve this.

The role of the CoE is to work with front-line bankers around the world providing expert input to support HSBC's climate strategy and re-wire and align the bank to net-zero.

Global Head, Heavy Industry Decarbonisation

You will shape HSBC's support for the low-carbon transition in key industry sectors across the world, leveraging the bank's capital and networks to shape and accelerate the shift to a net zero future.

You will lead a small team which will collaborate with bankers and regional leadership to support the bank's industrial clients in steel, cement, aluminium and chemicals, and engage them on their transition plans, seeking out opportunities for the bank to finance their transition.

Your professional network, industry reputation, public profile and track record of thought leadership will enable you to support the bank's external engagement with regulators, central banks and governments, NGOs and the markets.

Requirements

To be successful within this position you will have:

  • Deep expertise on climate change and the net-zero transition including low-carbon technologies, decarbonisation pathways, regulatory and policy levers, carbon budgets, science-based targets, climate analytics, and both transition and physical climate risk.
  • Strong technical understanding of energy use in industry and manufacturing processes and technologies across steel, cement, aluminium and other energyintensive industrial sectors, as well as experience working with, and developing, energy, production and emissions models for these sectors.
  • Experience in leadership roles, ideally in industry or relevant research and consulting fields, with a track record of outstanding achievements.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and managing multiple stakeholders across large organizations.

As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package.

This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
