What will the apprentice be doing on site: An opportunity is available to start a career in Manufacturing Engineering within a family run business in Peterborough. The business manufactures and repairs electrical transformers for a variety of industries. This would be a varied role, allowing the apprentice to gain experience in a number of different areas of the business. The apprentice will learn core principles in electrical manufacturing, while building experience in a workplace environment.

The apprentice will work towards a Level 2 Lean Manufacturing qualification and the role will involve:


  • Manufacturing transformers.
  • Assembling site transformers involving basic panel wiring.
  • Use of various protective devices (MCB/RCD/RCBO).
  • Wiring of distribution units.
  • Manufacturing of bespoke units.
  • Working in various stages of the production chain including winding, laminating, terminating.
  • Quality testing and inspection.
  • Following production sheets for each component.
  • Ensuring accuracy and high spec job completion at all times.
  • Contributing to General Housekeeping within the factory.
  • Reporting directly to the production supervisor to work as directed by the production department.
  • Ensure safe work practice in own work area.
Weekly Wage - £205.92

They will be able to work independently and within a team while having a mature persona. Being able to follow instructions and production sheets accurately is essential.

  • Highly reliable character with good timekeeping skills.
  • Be calm under pressure in a busy department.
  • Be able to work diligently, independently and accurately with mínimal supervision after full training.
  • Be able to follow detailed production sheets accurately.
  • Have a proactive awareness of workplace safety.
  • Take pride in presenting a high quality finished product.

Qualifications Required:
GCSE Maths and English minimum grade A*-D / 9-3, or equivalents.
