Solent NHS Trust are delighted to have been successful in their bid to implement a Mental Health in Schools Teams (MHST's) within Southampton City.

There are currently 4 MHSTs in Southampton offering an almost city-wide coverage for this new and exciting addition of mental health provision for children and young people.

Solent NHS Trust are currently recruiting a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to join the service. (Please note this is not a training post).

The development of these services are in collaboration with NHS England and the Department for Education, following on from the 2017 Green Paper Transforming children and young people's mental health provision.

This is a roll out of the work to improve access to mental health care for young people set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.

The clinical team structure of the MHST consists of EMHP Trainees, qualified EMHPs (this post), EMHP Supervisors, Senior Wellbeing Practitioner trainees and CBT Therapists.

The team also comprises of the Team Manager, Clinical leads, and Team Coordinators, offering strong leadership and governance structures within the team.
