Healthcare Assistants (HCAs)/Support Worker work within a range of Care settings such as Nursing and Residential Homes, Hospital wards, and in the community.
You will work under the guidance of different professionals like Nurses and Line managers withinthe care setting.What is the role of a healthcare assistant/support worker?
Types of duties may include:
- communication with patients, relatives and hospital staff
- assisting with clinical duties
- personal care including infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene and overall reassurance, comfort and safety
- promoting positive mental/physical/nutritional health with patients
- observing, monitoring and recording patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight
- Elimination care like commodes, showers etc.
- Patient Feeding
