Description

The Connection Rough Sleeper Outreach Service (CRSOS) aims to support rough sleepers into stable, safe and sustainable accommodation, empowering the client to achieve and maintain independent living.

Volunteer role summary:

The main role of the Outreach Volunteer is to work alongside Connection's Outreach Support Worker, to undertake early morning wake up calls on rough sleepers who have been identified or referred to the service.

Referrals to this service can be received at short notice so we are looking for a bank of volunteers who can be called upon, sometimes with just a day or two's notice.

Volunteers can choose to volunteer in their local area or further afield; we are looking for volunteers in high Wycombe, Aylesbury and the Chilterns.

As the Outreach work covers a large geographical, often rural area, having a car is an advantage but not a necessity as it may be possible to make alternative arrangements.

Experience is not required as an induction to the service will be arranged for volunteers. Out-of-pocket expenses are also covered.

We ask all our volunteers to have a non-judgmental attitude, as you will be working with a wide variety of people.

Many of those we work with have only very recently found themselves to be homeless which can be for a variety of reason, for example a breakdown of a relationship, unemployment, drugs or alcohol abuse.
