Community Coproduction Officer - Suicide Prevention


Location:
The role will be a field based position where you will work flexibly whilst covering the geographical area of North West London (including Hillingdon, Harrow, Brent, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow and Ealing)


Hours: 17.5hrs per week


Salary:
£22,078.37 to £24,349.64pa pro rata inclusive of London Weighting


Contract: 2 years fixed term

We want you to work creatively with groups in North West London to build on their strengths and help co-produce solutions for those struggling with their mental health.

This programme has been nominated on the Collective Power Shortlist come join our pioneering work.

We are leading a collaborative and co-productive programme for suicide prevention across North West London.

This innovative, creative and ambitious new programme will bring together the local health and care system, charities and neighbourhood community organisations, groups and places - and citizens.

People will work together to create a shared suicide prevention plan and approach, and test ideas through action in the community.

The approach will think about people who are most at risk of suicide.

Co-production is at the heart of the programme.

It involves people with lived experience around suicide (ideation, self-harm or bereavement by suicide), through the power of community listening.


How will you make a difference?


As a
Community Co-production Officer, you will assist in recruiting and inducting experts by experience, ensuring diversity and representation and supporting them to engage others in North West London around suicide prevention.


You will also:
- build relationships with community organisations and group leaders, and connect with people who have lived experience around suicide
- support people to have conversations with others about suicide prevention, collating insights and bringing them into the suicide prevention plan and approach for action
- support up to five expert by experience leaders in their community listening and strategic co-production roles
- co-ordinate co-production of suicide awareness training and evaluation of the programme.


You will be guided and supported in co-production practice by our Co-production and Involvement Team, and report to the Head of Suicide Prevention programme lead.


What are we looking for?
To be considered for the role you will demonstrate:

  • experience of working with people with challenging and distressing experiences, from different backgrounds and walks of life
- aptitude for helping people feel safe and supported in one to one and group discussions
- aptitude for collaborative working (including: active listening, appreciating different perspectives, positive language, solutions-focused approach, constructive/sensitive challenging, willingness to compromise/negotiate, enabling emotionally safe environments).
- ability to organise and facilitate meetings in person and using remote technology eg Zoom
- ability to work independently, with support from the team where needed.

You will live in North West London and are able to travel within this area.
