An independent residential care home is seeking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Person to join our enthusiastic and dedicated team.

Hours of work are 30 hours per week.

It is likely there will be up to an additional 10 hours per week on an ad-hoc basis, depending on ongoing projects.


Your responsibilities will be to deal with all daily maintenance requirements that may arise whether reported by a member of staff, the Home Manager or a Resident.

To work through an on-going decorating programme as outlined on the schedules. To carry out, minor building alterations within the skills of a maintenance person. To offer assistance at Barbeques'/Garden Parties or other similar Home events. To undertake the maintenance of the garden as required.

The duties itemised below are intended to provide an understanding of what tasks the role of 'maintenance person' at the Care Home will include.


  • Take overspill of bin bags to the tip
  • Replace lighting
  • Repair damaged chairs
  • Collect compost for gardener
  • Clean bin area and bins
  • Repair front door
  • Collect prescription for resident
  • Take clothes to hospital for a resident
  • Change batteries in resident's watch
  • Maintain and fit bedroom pressure mats
  • Put out garden furniture
  • Jetwash patio and paths
  • Regularly litter pic
  • Clean pad store
  • Take small items for repair Ie, vacuum cleaner
  • Water garden and planters when necessary
  • Collect chip shop chips on chip day
  • Pick up parts for other trades
  • Carry out a number of assessed tests and checks
  • Escort/monitor external contractor works
  • Keep decoration of building in good order
  • Take delivery of pads and cleaning items
  • Unblock toilets as required
  • Move beds to and from storage
  • Move hospital bed to other rooms as needed
  • Clean carpets outside of normal hours
  • Assemble new furniture in bedrooms as needed
  • Clean laundry room and vent system
  • Change kitchen water filter as necessary
  • Paint exterior fences
  • Keep laundry fluids filled up
  • Be available to carry out tasks requested by the manager or staff at no notice if required.


The successful person will be motivated, reliable and willing to work as part of a team to help deliver outstanding care to the residents of Weavers Care Home and have a satisfactory Enhanced DBS and references.
