Respiratory Physiotherapy Assistant - B3/4 (Full and Part time roles considered)

Berkshire Healthcare and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trusts are changing the way that community care is perceived and delivered Our award winning respiratory team, based at King Edward VII Hospital Windsor, are commissioned to provide an integrated respiratory service across the acute and East Berkshire community setting and this is your opportunity to join our team


Launched in 2017, AIR provides seamless integrated respiratory care across East Berkshire in and out of the hospital setting for patients with Asthma, COPD, Home Oxygen, Interstitial Lung Disease and Bronchiectasis.


Working closely with other regional experts, you will work both independently and as part of the supportive Multi Disciplinary team; providing care that is underpinned by a culture of research and innovation.


The post holder will primarily support the Respiratory Physiotherapy Service and assist in delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Ambulatory Oxygen and support the Outpatient and Domiciliary Respiratory Specialist Physiotherapy services.

They will also be expected to support the wider respiratory team as required.


You will be expected to work within your scope of practice under the direction of a registered physiotherapist with or without direct supervision.

Predominantly you will be responsible for the organisation of Pulmonary Rehabilitation and assisting with it's delivery.


Under the direction of a registered physiotherapist with or without direct supervision supervise, guide and progress patients independently during Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions working safely and within scope of practice at all times.


Be responsible for the organisation of Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions with administrative support; including waiting list management, booking appointments, filling classes, setting up the session, assisting with assessment, completing documentation, issuing letters, maintaining the database, and any other organisational tasks required by the service.


Under supervision initially the postholder will be expected to setup and then independently run maintenance classes for Pulmonary Rehabilitation patients at a variety of venues.


To conduct telephone and online assessment and reviews with patients - progressing exercise programmes, reviewing progress and liaising with senior staff as needed.

To perform home visits to known patients to perform exercise programmes, progress appropriately and review progress.


Under the direction of a registered physiotherapist with or without direct supervision to supervise, guide and progress patients independently during ambulatory oxygen assessment, working safely and within scope of practice at all times.

Training will be provided for this.

To provide leadership and training as agreed with supervisor to students, patients and carers.
