Description

Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.


Role:

The role holder will be responsible for driving performance improvement across the whole manufacturing processes, removing non-value-added activities and introducing new products and processes to support growth.

Contributing to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance as well as identifying and taking advantage of improvement opportunities within the organisation.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure CI projects consider requirements for safe working conditions and compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Providing coaching and direction to drive continuous improvement and daily execution to maximise growth and profitability of the value stream in support of the business needs.
  • Conduct cycle time analysis, time studies, work balance/flow improvements, workplace analysis and improvement
  • Collect, monitor, evaluate and report on production data and subsequently utilise the data to plan CI Projects
- improve efficiency through analysis and planning of work flow, space requirements and equipment layout

  • Lead and mentor the existing workforce, to create a continuous improvement ethos
  • Help develop more efficient ways to utilise people, machinery, materials, information and energy to make a product or service
  • Collaborate with the automation and wider operational team to implement new technologies into the value stream.
  • Support the implementation and sustainability of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in the value stream.
  • Ensure CI projects are tracking on time and within budget
  • Track and report on progress of CI projects
  • Engage closely with all business functions to give consistent strategic oversight and bring together common objectives
  • Ensure a strong process control focus across all key production areas
  • Help to foster the development of an embedded CI culture

Requirements:


  • Significant knowledge and experience in Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing practices and principles
  • Significant experience of using and/or implementing Continuous Improvement and Lean techniques such as 5S, problem solving, value stream mapping, standardised Work, visual management, Obeya Rooms, A3 and Kaizan problem solving.
  • Experience of implementing daily management boards through manufacturing and supply chain areas.
  • A demonstrable history of contributing to and /or leading major transformation projects
  • Endtoend supply chain experience including planning, sourcing, manufacturing and warehousing
  • Strong financial management, problem solving and strategicthinking skills.
  • Able to build effective relationships and collaborate with a range of individuals at all levels in the organisation.
  • Profound knowledge of continuous improvement change management and Lean principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to turn complex analysis into meaningful strategy, which can be understood at all levels in the organisation.
  • A highly collaborative style and able to thrive in a team environment

  • Monday to Friday

Experience:


  • Continuous improvement: 1 year (preferred)
  • Lean manufacturing: 1 year (preferred)
