An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Clinical Biospecimen Coordinator role within the Breast Clinical Research Unit at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

The post will cover our Sutton and Chelsea site.

To Lead the Breast Research Team Non CTIMP studies in order to ensure the efficient and successful delivery of new and existing non CTIMP clinical trials to ensure Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Human Tissue Act (HTA), standard operating procedures (SOPs), trust policies and all applicable regulations and governance are adhered to.


To provide leadership and oversight to ensure all Breast Unit tissue studies are compliant with all regulations with robust systems in place to audit unit practice.

  • Leading the tissue collecting team working within Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and our Academic partner Institute of Cancer Research at both Chelsea and Sutton sites.
  • Ensuring the seamless delivery of biobanking, with oversight and management of members of staff within the department across both sites.
  • Ensuring the collection of human samples is undertaken in accordance with the Human Tissue Act (HTA), and proactively support staff to progress their responsibility within the Biobank.
  • Providing leadership, drive, and innovative solutions to maintain governance support in the department and promote access to human tissue for research.
  • Working directly with senior management to aid the Tissue Bank Manager and Operations Manager to design, develop and deliver the longterm strategy of the CTUUC to enhance governance and actively seek collaborations.
