_Do you have general/building maintenance experience? Are you looking for a Part Time role?_

Caretaker/Premises Assistant Duties will include:


  • Responsibility for providing an environment which enhances the work of the Centre, and ensure it is secure.
  • Ensure the security of the premises at all times, and be the named key holder for the property. Responsible for locking of building and operation of alarm setting.
  • Ensure that the premises are clean and tidy at all times, undertaking cleaning duties and handle all cleaning materials and equipment following training, including the use of all uniform and equipment.
  • Help direct and support the work carried out by any Centre Cleaner(s) and report any problems relating to the cleanliness.
  • Assist with ensuring car parks/paths are safe including clearing snow, leaves etc.
  • Ensure premises remain compliant with health & safety regulations i.e., fire regulations and all relevant inspection information including cyclical maintenance, Legionella etc. are kept up to date and filed in the appropriate location.
  • Assist in monitoring health and safety of grounds, premises, plant, and furniture, advising the Business Manager as the need arises for repairs and maintenance.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of contractors working onsite ensuring their work is carried out to specification in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • To maintain high standards of customer/client care and response, providing for unexpected demands and making appropriate arrangements.
Provide a level of service in response to customer enquiries on occasions when the reception is un-staffed.

  • Prepare and clear meeting rooms throughout the day, ensuring the needs of event organisers are met in terms of seating/table arrangements for events and meetings.
  • To undertake the moving of furniture and equipment when required and assist with the relocation of staff within offices.
  • To assist with catering and general deliveries.
  • To monitor the stock of premises related consumables/cleaning equipment and report requirements.
  • To oversee the operation of the plant room and ensure the correct operation of mechanical and electrical systems e.g., heating, water, ventilation, air conditioning, plant and equipment and associated computerized control systems i.e., Building ManagementSystems.
  • To oversee operation, testing and maintenance of security and fire alarm systems.
  • To undertake regular inspections of premises and identify, attend to, or report any defects to provide a safe complaint environment.
  • To carry out minor repairs/maintenance and report preventative maintenance repairs.
  • To undertake compliance checks e.g., water sampling, fire alarm and emergency lighting tests to ensure the building provides a safe working environment.
  • To undertake car parking, caretaking and portering duties as and when required.
  • To comply with and manage recycling and confidential waste arrangements.

Caretaker/Premises Assistant Applicants:


Essential:


  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience of working in a general maintenance/premisesbased environment providing solutions in response to building management user requests
  • Experience of working in multi occupancy premises providing soft facilities management services
  • Experience of cleaning, portering or caretaking duties. Experience of key holder and security
  • Ability to clean andhave competent DIY skills
  • Good organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Has the ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Ability to use initiative, take responsibility and be proactive
  • Enthusiastic, committed, hardworking and selfmotivated
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Willingness to work flexible hours

Desirable:


  • GCSE or equivalent in English & Maths
  • Training or qualifications relevant to this post
  • Certified training in H&S activities e.g., first aid, manual handling, work at heights
  • Practical qualifications e.g., plumbing/joinery, electrical etc.
  • Recent experience of caretaking/building related work.
  • Experience of boiler, heating, ventilation, lift and plant monitoring and maintenance serving multi occupancy premises.
  • Experience and ability to test and operate fire alarm and other premise systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and action problems
  • IT skills

**This role is to start as soon as possible. Working 22 hours per week, over 2 days. Cover is required from 07:30 to 19:00 Monday to Thursday and 7.30 to 18.00 Fridays. There may be occasional requirements for overtime.
