As a study skills tutor you will be supporting students at Lancaster University who have learning difficulties and/or autism.
This will be done by working one-to-one with students and understanding their needs to support them with their academic work.
Responsibilities:
As a Study skills tutor you will be expected to:
- Provide tailored one-to-one support with students you have been assigned to based on their specific disabilities
- Assist students with organisational skills such as, time management, creating action plans to work towards deadlines
- Help with their research skills by assisting them to access ranges of resources
- Provide help with writing skills, how to structure their work
- Encourage students to build on existing strengths so they are able to develop on their independence
- Behave in a confidential and professional manner at all time with students
- Work closely with Randstad and ensure any concerns regarding students are communicated immediately
Requirements:
Holds a degree
AND
Teaching Certificate / Qualification
AND
Six National Autistic Society (NAS) online training modules
- Understanding autism
- Autism and communication
- Autism and sensory experience
- Autism, stress and anxiety
- Autism: supporting families
- Autism and Girls
