Description

Work effectively with those patients whose first language is not English and take into consideration diversity issues in particular differing cultural awareness.

To demonstrate physical ability to carry out Specialist assessment and interventions, including highly developed manual techniques and therapeutic handling. To keep up to date with clinical developments, analysing current research and discussing and implementing changes in clinical practice.

To be responsible for the safe use of equipment used in carrying out duties, adhering to the department's medical devises policy.

This includes competence and accuracy to use equipment by yourself and other healthcare professionals, carers and patients.

To develop the service in line with recent NHS developments and targets and produce policies and procedures in line with these.

To ensure as clinical specialist that designated staff implement policy and service development changes. To represent the Trust externally (locally, regionally and nationally) regarding MSK services provided to patients with complex MSK pain.


To be able to manage stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an empathic manner, in particular patients diagnosed with chronic upper quadrant pain and supporting more junior staff in similar circumstances To lead an Upper Quadrant training programme for junior and new members of staff.

To maintain and provide accurate and timely statistical information as required. Use audit to identify the developing needs of the service. To participate in the Trust appraisal scheme as an appraiser and an appraisee.
