Pay:
27,500 pro rata
Working: 50% Full Time Equivalent at 17.5 hours. Schedule to be mutually agreed with some evening/weekend working and flexibility required.
Contract:
Initially one year
Pension: 3% employers contribution
Location:
Falmouth
Holiday: 25 days (plus bank holidays) pro rata

Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination
- Work with others to identify where and what volunteers are required by our charity and match opportunities from potential volunteers.
- Deal promptly and professionally with all enquiries relating to volunteering to ensure positive outcomes for the volunteers, and the charity.
- Create a sense of teamwork and belonging, communicating with and motivating volunteers in person, and through print and digital contexts.
- Keep accurate volunteer records, maintain a database of volunteers, and deal with the administration associated with volunteers.
- Produce monthly volunteer rota and schedules for everyday activities and coordinate volunteers to fulfil hours needed including one off room/event bookings
- Ensure standards of quality, customer service and health and safety, fire safety and hygiene are met.
- Assign responsibilities to the right people for special events
- Coordinate teams of volunteers for largescale actions/events when needed
- Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied, supported and wellplaced
- Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
- Troubleshoot volunteer issues
- Ensure that the experience of volunteering is inclusive and accessible
Cafe/front of house management
- Ensure stock is managed and ordered when needed.
- Ensure that the café/shop are at all times clean and tidy and other areas of the Centre as required including studios and toilets.
- Handle cash and credit/debit card transactions and management of taking and safe.
- Receive and store deliveries of food and stock as directed and trained ensuring this is correct for each particular food product
- Carry out cleaning duties such as tables, tableware and kitchen equipment striving for absolute cleanliness in the customer and kitchen areas
- Ensure fridge/freezer temperatures are recorded on a daily basis, making sure they meet the correct food storage temperatures. React accordingly when this is compromised to ensure food hygiene standards are met.
General
- Interact in a helpful and positive manner with all visitors and customers to/of the Community Centre and to be at all times polite and courteous when dealing with members of the public and people using the premises and grounds
- To take every opportunity to promote a favourable image to all users of the Centre.
- Maximise opportunities for the Centre, recommending ideas and opportunities to enable growth and development.
- Communicate closely with the Board of Trustees providing regular updates and reports
- Assist in coordinating one off or regular community events as agreed with line manager
- You will be required to work face to face at the Centre during the day, some evenings and weekends and to cover front of house hours when no volunteers are available or are off due to illness etc
- Ensure the building is secured, including the windows, and alarms are set and working prior to leaving the premises on shifts when necessary
- Undertake relevant training as and when necessary
Requirements and skills
Essential
- Proven experience as operations director, volunteer manager or similar position
- Previous experience of customer service/dealing with customers face to face
- Experience in volunteering locally and/or internationally
- Working knowledge of databases and MS Office (especially Excel)
- Able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people
- Excellent organisational and team coordination abilities
- A pleasant, outgoing personality and 'can do ' attitude
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and extra hours during busy periods
Desirable
- Experience working in the Charity sector
- Cafe experience
- Fitness centre experience
