Your New Role:


We have a fantastic opportunity for a
Permanent Commercial Assistant to join our Commercial Rail account based in Taffs Well.


Asset Management / Infrastructure Maintenance of the CVL forms part of our Wales and Borders contract with Transport for Wales (TfW).

TfW is a delivery agent for the Welsh Government and exists to drive forward the Welsh Government's vision of a high quality, safe, integrated, affordable and accessible transport network that the people of Wales are proud of.


Seilwaith Amey Cymru / Amey Infrastructure Wales Ltd (AIW) have been engaged as Infrastructure Manager for Core Valley Lines (CVL) rail network.

A Commercial Assistant will assist the Commercial Team in carrying out their normal commercial and contractual duties, to assist the operational management team as required, in complying with the Amey Values, and assist in ensuring maximum recovery of all contractual entitlement.


The standard hours of work are
full time hours per week.

You will be responsible for:


  • Support the Commercial team to ensure they can comply with the Amey systems, processes, and procedures on Contracts.
  • Work within the strict deadlines required under the Contract(s) and as required by the
  • Support in preparing data required to populate various commercial
  • Support the Commercial Team in exercising full cost control of project(s) in conjunction with the Commercial Managers as directed.
  • Assist in producing monthly and/or weekly cost and value data to support the Commercial team in production of forecasts to completion of the project(s).
  • Assist in the collation of data / facts with respect of all variations (changes) to the works in conjunction with other project team members.
  • Ensure that all contemporary records are kept by the project team members for use in supporting claims, extensions of time, and the evaluation of variations.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Competent in basic computer skills, with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel and Word.
  • Ability to timemanage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines.
  • Methodical style of working.
  • To proactively assist in meeting commercial reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Some quantity surveying, construction, or finance experience advantageous
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A Levels, degree qualification or studying towards is desirable but not mandatory.
