Description

As a TCP dispenser you will be working in both the inpatient dispensary and the new outpatient dispensary, when completed.

Our dispenser team are a vital component for delivering a high quality service to patients and Trust colleagues. Ideally, the post holder will already have experience of working in a busy dispensing environment.

The complex medicines prescribed and treatment regimes seen as routine within the hospital are very different from those that would be encountered in a community pharmacy but all new dispensers follow a structured six month induction programme, supported by a mentor and nominated pharmacist.

When completed the dispenser will be confident in the operation of automated dispensing robots, the compilation of complex treatment therapies for inpatients and outpatients, assembly of discharge prescriptions, stock supply to wards and peripheral clinics.

TCP dispensers work as part of a broader team comprising of pharmacists, accuracy checking technicians, technicians and pharmacy support workers all dedicated to providing a safe, efficient and beneficial service to the patients of the Trust.

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust manages the Christie Hospital which is one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe.

The Christie treats 40,000 patients per year, delivering 30,000 chemotherapy treatments and was rated as 'excellent' by the CQC in 2018.

The Christie Pharmacy Ltd (TCP), created December 2017, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trust and provides pharmacy services to outpatients, inpatients and over fifteen peripheral clinics.
