ABOUT VIDERE
Videre is an award-winning, UK-registered NGO that exposes human rights abuses and holds perpetrators to account.

We work directly with communities in stressed environments, equipping networks of activists and community leaders with the technology and training necessary to safely capture visual documentation of political violence, human rights violations, and other systemic abuses.

Our aim is to ensure that the concerns and knowledge of affected communities drive advocacy, policy, and legal action.


POSITION OVERVIEW


The MEL Specialist plays a pivotal roles in ensuring the effectiveness our projects and the overall impact of the organisation.

They are responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust MEL systems to track progress, measure outcomes, and promote organisational learning.

Location: Hybrid, with an expectation of attending the London office once/week and occasionally more often for in-person meetings.

Hours: Part-time, the equivalent of up to 2 days per week. This will include some fixed hours as well as flexible time for meetings or commitments on other days of the week.

Salary:£38,000-£42,000 pro rata.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and upgrade MEL frameworks, systems, and tools to assess project and organisational performance and impact.
  • Design and conduct baseline studies and mid/finalterm evaluations to measure progress and outcomes against established indicators and targets.
  • Support project teams to ensure that MEL activities are integrated into project planning, implementation, and reporting processes, and ensure the completion of their monthly and quarterly MEL tasks.
  • Prepare MEL findings, insights, and recommendations through reports and impact case studies to strengthen accountability to external stakeholders, including donors.
  • Limited provision of technical support and capacity building to staff and partners on MELrelated topics, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Limited facilitation of learning and knowledgesharing activities to promote continuous improvement and adaptive management.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS

Essential

  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning, preferably in the context of human rights, international development, humanitarian assistance, or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of MEL principles, methodologies, and good practices, including experience with designing and implementing MEL frameworks, systems, and tools.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and deliver highquality results.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fastpaced and dynamic environment, with the ability to respond to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.

Preferred

  • Professional proficiency in French.
  • Experience with knowledge management systems and platforms for sharing MEL findings and resources.
  • Evidence of data analysis or research. This could be through experience and/or through a degree that had this as a significant component.
