Description
Arriva UK Trains Bid Team is a multi-disciplinary team made up of highly specialised professionals.

Our priority, through detailed, collaborative working, is to submit compelling and high-quality bids to secure new opportunities, as well as retain existing operations.

We are looking for talented and creative individuals to grow and enhance the capability of our team, and we have exciting opportunities within our Planning & Performance Team, with vacancies for two Train Planning Specialists.

If you are looking to begin, or further develop your career within the rail industry, enhancing your understanding of rail bidding and to specialise in train planning, this could be the role for you.

Seizing opportunities within the timetable is one of the key elements to winning a successful bid and the Train Planning Specialists will be joining a team responsible for researching, analysing, and developing operational plans that form the foundations for Arriva's submissions.

The work requires problem solvers, individuals who have strong analytical thinking and the creativity to develop and propose timetable options and resource diagrams that maximise the potential for success.

The ability to communicate often complex detail, in an easy to understand manner is also a critical element to this role.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail and through collaboration, you will establish close and effective working relationships with other teams within the bid team such as Fleet, Commercial and Finance.

You will be passionate about rail and the ambitions within the industry and will have well developed communication skills to build and sustain relationships across Arriva to ensure that we are adopting best practice within our bid submissions.

Proven experience in developing and producing operational plans

Understanding of railway principles that affect the train service offering (for example signalling, layouts, depot locations)

The ability to analyse and solve complex problems as well as working quickly and accurately to deadlines

Excellent ability to communicate (both written and verbal)

Some experience of using train planning or diagramming software packages

  • At Arriva we acknowledge the importance of our people's diverse experiences, talents, and cultures. Embracing diversity and inclusion is a key component of our talent strategy. The creation of a diverse, inclusive workforce is central to our ability to unlock potential and enhance our success._
