Description

You will deliver improved operational activities and maintenance within Water Network Operations, ensuring that the team operate in a cost efficient and effective manner to achieve the quality, performance and safety standards required by the company.


You will support the Maintenance Optimisation Manager (MOM) in the overall management of the Proactive Conditioning - Network Technicians, ensuring the effective delivery of the conditioning programme to ensure compliance with the Taste Smell and Appearance ODI.

You will have responsibility for the teams to achieve the quality, performance and safety standards of United Utilities


Job Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for the delivery of efficient work programmes through effective liaison and networking with team, internal and external customers whilst championing the highest standards of safety behaviour and safety performance of your team (including H&S inspections, maintenance of vehicles, tools, equipment and PPE.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Establishing regular liaison with Network Performance Managers to identify potential issues and needs and ensure delivery of maximum efficiency within area. Investigate options and initiate and manage/support improvement action
  • Establishing regular liaison with relevant internal and external peers to share best practice, consistently implement company policy and procedures and improve performance
  • Undertaking specific strategic projects or initiatives as directed by the MOM
  • Assisting the MOM in development of the annual Operational budget for the area
  • Engagement and Performance Management of team, ensuring a highly skilled and engaged work force. Track team performance through data analysis and regular liaison with team
  • Supporting line manager in achievement of all Business and financial targets and regulatory compliance
  • Achievement of health & safety targets, site health and safety inspections performed to schedule and reduced accident frequency rate
  • Delivery of team and individual engagement actions, Performance Improvement Plans and Development Plans
  • Successful delivery of planned Opex and Capital programmes in designated region
  • Supporting the MOM to manage spend effectively to deliver improved performance within budget
  • Improved data integrity for regulatory reporting requirements
  • Delivery of maintenance programme on time and to budget to meet Business needs

Knowledge and Skills:

To be considered for this role you will have proven relevant experience in water network with a technical qualification as well as extensive and relevant experience in the relevant field or proven -management/supervisory skills in another areas


You will also have:

  • A high level of technical knowledge will be required to ensure compliance with Legislative and Regulatory Standards covering relevant Network assets and equipment
  • Sound financial understanding to support the MOM to deliver financial plans and identify areas for further efficiencies
  • An understanding of wider business issues across all levels of the Company's operation is key, particularly an awareness of the nature and effect of competition within the Utility sector
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to identify, develop and drive through solutions to a wide range of technical and managerial problems
  • Water network experience
  • Proven track record of delivering improved productivity and/or high standards of performance and be capable of identifying, tackling and resolving instances of poor performance, bad practice etc.
  • There is a need for a high degree of resilience to deal with the daily demands on time and resources.
