SWORD Engineering Ltd is a small, family run business based in Wem, Shropshire. Due to an increased workload we are seeking a mechanically minded, competent Fabricator / Welder with at least 5 years proven experience to join our friendly, committed team in the repair, fabricating and manufacturing of recycling equipment.

Duties will include but not limited to:

Bespoke Fabrication from drawings
e.g. access platforms, walkways, conveyors, trommels, safety rails, stairs etc
Welding (MMA/MIG/Stick)
Cutting, Drilling, Grinding
Assisting with repairing, testing and maintaining waste recycling equipment such as conveyors, shredders, balers, optical sorters etc.
Completing preventative and reactive maintenance welding/fabrication on heavy plant machinery at customer sites
Assisting with Fitting and Installation of recycling equipment
General mechanical duties to assist other engineering staff
Maintaining a safe and tidy workplace and reporting any faults/hazards, in accordance with Company Health and Safety requirements
Varied workload weekly within a small and friendly team

You will be both workshop and site based nationally and therefore must be prepared to work away from home and weekends, sometimes at short notice._

Experience & Skills Required

Competent MIG & MMA Fabrication & Welding Skills with at least 5 years proven experience
Level 3 NVQ minimum qualification in Fabrication and Welding
Must be able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
Fitting and installation experience desirable
Be able to measure and cut materials accurately
Adhere to health and safety procedures
Able to work on their own initiative or within a small committed team at both our own premises and customer's sites
Mechanical skills
Fork lift, scissor lift and boom licenses IPAF highly desirable
Previous experience in the waste / recycling industry desirable

Due the nature of the environment, we are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for fabrication and welding and an appetite for mechanical engineering.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in the installation of heavy plant machinery, routine planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of recycling machinery, and diagnosing breakdown problems and repairs.

Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday 8:30AM to 4:30PM -flexible to suit

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent

Salary:
£15.00-£17.00 per hour
