Job Overview
Kelly Services are seeking a HGV Vehicle Mechanic Supervisor to work in Grantham. You will be working between 7am - 5pm usually Monday to Friday.

To undertake the servicing, repair, maintenance, and inspections of a mixed fleet, comprising of cars, vans, HGV's,refuse collection vehicles and plant owned and operated by the client.

Ensuring that the fleet complies with all relevant legislation and the fleet is kept to the highest standard of safety and road worthiness.

To assist the Transport Manager and Administrative Assistant in the planning, prioritising and completion of workshop workload.

The supervisors duties will include having responsibility for making decisions and prioritising work to ensure that repairs, maintenance, and inspections take place in a timely manner to ensure mínimal disruption to services.


Responsibilities

  • To undertake the servicing, repair, maintenance and inspection of council vehicles and plant
  • Ensure the workshop is kept clean and tidy and that health and safety standards are maintained
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
  • To assist the Transport Manager and Administrative Assistant in the preparation of workshop rotas; monitor, assess and distribute defect reports for assessment/repair; Assess, prioritise and manage the workload within the workshop.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT, including HGV's
  • Carry out services as per the service schedule
  • Investigate and repair any vehicle, which is reported under the daily check defect reporting system
  • Attend to vehicle breakdowns off site
  • Inform Stock Controller when stocks are running low
  • Assist in workshop planning, coordination and general day to day decisions
  • Work as a team and be flexible to deliver the agreed prioritised work in agreed timescales
  • If required by the department this role will (very occasionally) support the driving, loading, transporting and unloading of waste and recycling

This work is temporary. You will need to be available immediately.

You must be able to adhere to all health and safety practices and you must also be hardworking and reliable.
