About the Role:
Spire Healthcare Ltd is seeking an experienced Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP) to join our team at Spire Washington Hospital.
As a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner, you will play a vital role in assisting the surgical team during orthopaedic procedures.
You will be responsible for preparing the operating theatre, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout the surgery.
Additionally, you will assist the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies as needed, as well as monitoring the patient's vital signs and providing support and reassurance to both the patient and their family during the procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating theatre, including setting up and checking all necessary equipment and supplies
- Maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies as needed
- Monitor the patient's vital signs and provide support and reassurance to the patient and their family during the procedure
- Ensure that all necessary documentation and records are completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Adhere to all infection control and health and safety policies and procedures
- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain and enhance your professional skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide highquality patient care
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A recognised qualification as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
- Previous experience working as a scrub practitioner in a major orthopaedic setting
- Excellent knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A commitment to providing highquality patient care
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
