We have a vacancy for a hard-working, organised and motivated person to join our friendly Stores team in the Pharmacy Department at Watford General Hospital as a Senior Pharmacy Stores Assistant.

37.5 hours per week, 7.5hrs per day, Monday to Friday.

The purpose of this post is to:

Organise the workload of the pharmacy assistants in Pharmacy Stores, in collaboration with the Senior and Chief Pharmacy Technician, Procurement, Stores and Distribution.

Monitor workflow in distribution area, issuing stock medicines and providing a ward top up service to clinical areas.

Ensure that wards, departments, clinics and customers are provided with an efficient supply service for all their pharmaceutical needs.

Update reviewed ward/department stock lists.

Check prepared orders for accuracy before packing and distribution.

Work in the following sections of the pharmacy, to include homecare service, procurement, stores and distribution.

Undertake duties in support of pharmacists.

Undertake related clerical duties.

To train, supervise work of pharmacy stores assistants, trainees.

Work effectively as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary and Pharmacy environment and maintain good communication with all staff listed under key relationships above.

During busy periods, to assist the

Pharmacy Technician Specialist:

Homecare Medicines & High Cost drugs in carrying out routine homecare medicines service activities such as raising homecare medicine Purchase Order (PO) using the pharmacy stock control system - EMIS, with the relevant homecare providers, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

To visit critical wards and departments on an agreed schedule to order stock (top-up).

To assist with the review and maintenance of ward/department stock lists following approval by the ward/senior pharmacists.
