Service Dogs UK is a unique assistance dog charity that uses dogs from 'rescue' to help Veterans from the military and emergency services with a clinical diagnosis of PTSD or CPTSD.

We believe that by working together, as a team, on an incredible month journey changes lives.

Our Veterans tell us that the charity has made all the difference, not only to them but their families too.

Many would say that it has saved their lives.

We need to grow to help others and to expand our operations but in order to do this we need an experienced Fundraiser to take us to the next level and to grow with us and our passionate, dedicated team.


This is a new role, reporting to the Operations Director to lead on fund-raising, with support from the wider team.

If you are an experienced fundraiser, wanting to support military and emergency services Veterans and you would like to join this impactful assistance dog charity you could make a huge difference As a member of the leadership team, you will play a key role in expanding our fundraising strategy.


This is a hybrid role with flexible hours blending remote working with occasional requirement to meet the team in person.


Job purpose:


  • To secure new income streams to generate funds.
  • To guide and support the Board, Operations Director, Training Team and Volunteers on the
development of sustainable fundraising strategies.


  • To manage and develop existing funding and partnership arrangements.
  • To grow sector and wider awareness of the benefits of a relationship with Service Dogs UK.
  • To support effective relationships between funders/supporters and Service Dogs UK.
  • To manage internal processes for accessing and recording income streams.

Structure of role:


  • Reports to the Operations Director of Service Dogs UK.
  • Advise on an effective fundraising strategy and introduce it to the team.
  • Member of the charity's leadership team.
  • Two days per week with flexible working.
  • Probationary/review period of three months from starting date.
  • Initial contract for a year, with the intention of renewal to a permanent role.

Specific duties of the job:


  • 1. Management of existing donors and funders_
past for possible renewal.

  • Manage the timely delivery of grant evaluation reports.
  • 2. Income generation_
  • Source new funding opportunities in line with strategic aims and objectives and present to
management team.

  • Report on income generation at management meetings as required.
  • Input to the Budget
  • 3. Build awareness of Service Dogs UK for potential sponsors/funders_
  • Represent the charity at appropriate events and within social media.
  • Assist the Operations Director with campaigns, approaches and relevant materials to gain new funders.
  • Explore longerterm opportunities (e.g., legacy giving) developing associated strategies and
timetables for implementation.

  • Explore ideas on commercial opportunities to generate revenue streams.
  • 4. Supporter relations_
  • Be a point of contact, with the Operations Director for funders.
  • Assist the Operations Director in maintaining a regular schedule of visits to training venues for funders/potential funders.
  • Provide funder updates/interim reports for teammembers/trustees at regular meetings.

Person Specification:


  • Highly proactive and with strong initiative; able to spot opportunities for funding and follow
up on them.

  • A proven track record of successful fund raising in the charity sector.
  • An effective relationshipbuilder, with internal colleagues and external contacts, who can
confidently represent the values and objectives of Service Dogs UK to the wider audience.

  • Ability and confidence to present Service Dogs UK to an audience if required.
  • Ability to organise workload effectively, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines and responding to ad hoc requests for information.
  • Confidence and accuracy in the use of written and spoken English.
  • Computer literate, experience of Microsoft 365 useful.
  • Experience of using social media and online platforms to generate income.

Salary:
£22,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
