    Project Manager Role Overview

    As a key member of our growing team, the Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery and management of programmes and projects. They will provide support and guidance to customers, colleagues, and project teams, developing and delivering projects from concept stage to completion.

    Responsibilities

    • Mentor and coach junior consultants and graduates while working on commissions, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.
    • Manage own projects, including task allocation and progress monitoring.
    • Support the Director of Project Delivery in achieving business targets through commission management and performance monitoring.
    • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and professional development across the consultancy team.
    • Provide leadership, advice, and consultation on project design, development, and implementation to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Deputise for Senior Project Managers where required.

    Governance

    • Implement best practices in project delivery and management, ensuring robust risk management and quality control.
    • Monitor and report on project progress and performance, ensuring accountability and transparency.
    • Assist in supply chain management and ensure timely invoicing.
    • Highlight issues, problems, opportunities, risks, threats, solutions, ideas, complaints, or positive feedback to Associate Directors and Project Delivery Directors in a timely fashion.

    Customers

    • Lead client engagements from proposal to project delivery, ensuring client satisfaction and value delivery.
    • Promote business development through project delivery and key account holdings by developing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
    • Promote the Sewell Advisory brand and services to existing and new customers.
    • Provide case studies for completed projects to grow and enhance business collateral.

    Business Improvement

    • Conduct project reviews and performance analysis to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and development, encouraging team members to share insights and best practices.
    • Collaborate with the team on projects, sharing evidence, best practice, and ideas to improve processes and products.
    • Responsible for own professional development, CPD, and L&D requests, and keeping up-to-date with sector and market trends and intelligence.

    Quality Assurance

    • Ensure high-quality consultancy services and project delivery meet client expectations and industry standards.
    • Develop fee proposals for project opportunities.
    • Contribute to audits and feedback sessions to ensure consistent service quality and client satisfaction.
    • Deliver projects on time, within costs, and within quality/proposal requirements, involving progress reporting, client satisfaction feedback, and monitoring of the project plan.
    • Obtain client feedback for continuous development and improvement of products and outputs, and testimonials for marketing activities.

    Project/Commission Delivery

    • Focus on project delivery, working on multiple commissions at any one time.
    • Act as client representative, project manager, agent, or contractor as required by the scope and commission.
    • Successfully develop and deliver projects from simple to complex, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
    • Track and report on changes to the project or commission scope, analysing and reporting on their impact.
    • Manage procurement and appointment of consultants and contractors on behalf of customers.
    • Manage project teams, ensuring effective coordination, communication, and resource allocation.
    • Oversee project lifecycle management from initial scoping to post-delivery review.
    • Instigate and maintain good project management procedures and documentation.
    • Establish a partnering approach with the supply chain to ensure productive team working, effective pricing, and quality expectation are met and maintained.
    • Manage economic and financial models for projects at all RIBA stages of development.
    • Complete post-project evaluations for all projects and completed commissions.
    • Deliver financial targets on commissions, taking action and escalating when required to address forecast shortfalls or overspend.

    Essential Requirements

    • A full, valid UK driving licence and own transport.
    • Proven experience in project delivery within the built environment, property, development, or related sectors.
    • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and industry standards.
    • Excellent client management abilities with a focus on building long-term relationships.
    • Excellent computer literacy in Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
    • The ability to learn and work with new technology and software, and implement improved ways of working.
    • A flexible attitude towards hours worked and interest in supporting the wider team during holiday and sickness periods.

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Professional qualification (HNC, HND, BA, BSc) in construction, project management, real estate, or a related field.
    • Planning permission process experience, proposal submission, public consultation, approval process, and condition discharge.
    • Experience of writing reports, business cases, feasibility studies on subjects related to the company's business.
    • Experience of project transactions and supporting contract/legal procedures.
    • Familiarity with Synergist software for tracking commission and team performance.
    • Familiarity with contract management software.
