BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager, the post holder will provide an effective maintenance support.

Working hours:
Monday - Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm (37.5 hours per week)

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support and assistance to other team members
  • Always adhere to health and safety procedures
  • Liaise with external contractors, if required
  • Perform reactive duties in a safe and effective manner
  • Carry out a range of general maintenance duties
  • Minor plumbing unblocking basins, replacing washers on taps and ball valves, repairing or replacing plugs and chains, repairing or replacing WC seats and lids, unblocking drains, rodding and cleaning waste pipes, cleaning filters on heat recovery units and maintenance tasks of similar nature


  • Carpentry

  • Building furniture, station housing, fitting doors/locks, and any other required tasks


  • Minor electrical

  • Changing lamps, resetting tripped fuses, and replacing lamp holders, lamps, plugs and leads, cleaning extractor fans and maintenance tasks of a similar nature


  • Other Maintenance

  • Maintaining and repairing, fitting blinds, painting and the use of power tools. Carrying out modifications to work benches and equipment
  • Minor troubleshooting & maintenance for office equipment if required
  • Review processes, procedures, systems, paperwork, etc. in own area, and make suggestions for improvement
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers as necessary to clarify technical details and overcome problems
  • Van driving duties as and when required
  • Carry out work to set deadlines
  • Flexible to work to the needs of the business
  • Good housekeeping in all maintenance areas
  • Flexible to travel to Birmingham and Huddersfield as and when required
  • Working off site as directed by Line Manager
  • Arranging / completing collection of consumables and materials from wholesalers
  • Any other reasonable duties or project work which may be required by management from time to time

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated DIY Skills (Plumbing, carpentry, electrical)
  • Previous experience in building maintenance
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Clean and valid driving license

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • A relevant qualification
  • Previous trade
