Starting salary:
NHS Band 5 £27,055 (pro-rata)


Contract:12 month fixed term contract maternity cover


Responsible to:
Head of Public Fundraising


Location:
Lister Hospital (Stevenage) with occasional home working or off-site meeting days


About the organisation


We are an ambitious Hospital charity with an exciting opportunity to join us on our team as an Events Coordinator on a 12-month maternity cover contract.


We currently raise between £1-2m a year for East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust which has four sites local to Hertfordshire, including the Lister Hospital (Stevenage) and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (North London).

We are proud to raise funds to enhance the care provided by our wonderful clinical colleagues and to contribute to a positive patient experience.

We also support a number of wellbeing initiatives to support our staff.

About you

What you will be doing


You will predominately be fundraising for specialist equipment, research and projects to improve patient experience at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and the Lister hospital.

You will be able to raise funds for a range of causes such as children, babies, cancer services and the elderly.


Main duties of the job


To deliver and manage our portfolio of events including mass participation, challenges, NHS Trust and community partnership events to support our four hospital sites - Securing income which enables the Charity to provide projects and equipment which are above and beyond the remit of the NHS and enhance patient experience.


Key duties:


  • To meet or exceed a personal annual fundraising target for our events to help the charity exceed its annual income target.
To manage the event budget and strive to achieve our benchmark of 1:4 (cost:
income) return on investment ratio

  • To lead and manage the charity's 'owned' events which include the Lister Abseil, Rainbow Run, Moor Park 10k and Firewalk
  • To recruit supporters for our existing challenge events and set up new challenges
  • To provide stewardship and support to large scale fundraising events organised by donors in the community
  • To be the charity lead for any events organised in partnership with the NHS Trust
  • To provide excellent cultivation and stewardship to all event participants with the aim of increased supporter lifetime value
  • To oversee all tasks within the event set up process which includes writing plans, risk assessments and health and safety documents, ordering equipment, booking suppliers
  • To recruit and manage event volunteers
  • To create sponsorship packages and develop new opportunities for maximising funds raised at events
