Would you like the opportunity to work with a mainstream school with specialist provisions for students with Autism?


About the role


We are looking for a Fully Qualified teacher with experience teaching students with Autism to work within this mainstream Primary School's Autism Provision.

Students spend a portion of their day in the provision getting additional support with English, Maths,Functional Skills and Speech and Language, and spend the rest of their day integrating with their peers in regular mainstream classes.

You will be required to plan and deliver adaptable and inclusive lessons to students with an EHCP statement of Autism.

Youwill be ably supported by 2 support assistants in the class who help with classwork, engaging students and behaviour management so you can focus on delivering inclusive and engaging lessons.

Experience using Makaton and PECS is highly desirable for applicantsof this role.


About the school


This is a mixed mainstream school based in the London Borough of Enfield that has an Additionally Resourced Provision for students with an EHCP statement of Autism.

Here they specifically focus on the idea that developing your child's functional and spontaneouscommunication is the highest priority. There are 16 students within their resource provision for students in years 1-3.

The ARP use a total communication approach as they understand that different pupils need different levels of language and communicationsupport.

They use tools such as Makton, PECS, Colourful Communication and Voice Output Communication Aids to support students who are pre-verbal to develop their ability to share information and participate in a range of activities.
