Part Time - 18 hours per week


We have a new opportunity available for a Children's Worker to join us to deliver and develop support services for children and young people aged up to 16 years who have experienced domestic abuse in order to ensure their safety and emotional well-being.


The role


This is a key worker position in which you will assist in the delivery of excellent customer focused services and operate in accordance with best practice and within the policies and procedures of Broadacres Housing Association.


You will assess the needs of children and young people and provide appropriate support on an individual basis along with working in conjunction with adult support workers to assess the whole family.

You will liaise with relevant agencies involved with clients to ensure that support is on-going, e.g.

Social Services, Health Visitors, schools, provide information and advice on relevant external agencies and keep accurate records on each child by completing support and risk management plans.


What do you need to have?

  • Some experience working with the designated serviceuser group
  • NVQ level II in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • A good understanding of the principles of practice in working with vulnerable people and children in particular.
  • Awareness of the impact of domestic abuse to the victim and family
  • Excellent naturalistic observation skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and being able to work with service users, colleagues, families and external individuals.
  • Good motivational skills, being able to encourage residents to maximise their opportunities.
  • The ability to deal effectively with confrontation
  • A full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • For occupational requirement reasons we are looking to appoint a female only for this post (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9)
