Mental Health Project Worker

The Lookout, Winchester

£11.49

37.50 hours per week


We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Project Worker with the passion and drive to support service users with complex needs to recover from crisis.

The Lookout in Winchester has been developed with Hampshire & IOW Integrated Care Board and offers a short-term alternative to NHS admissions for adults experiencing mental health issues.


As a Mental Health Project Worker you will provide person-centred support, working alongside service users to set and meet their recovery goals.

This is a unique opportunity for you to work with our partners in the Southern Health Foundation Trust, extending your knowledge and advancing your skills in mental health support practice.

The role of Mental Health Project Worker will include:
Providing safe accommodation for clients with experience of homelessness
Regularly assessing the needs of residents by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training and employment
Supporting residents in their day to day living i.e. with cooking and cleaning
Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
Assisting residents with managing finances and welfare benefits
Encouraging social inclusion and helping residents to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem
Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the residents and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks


Skills and experiences:
NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
Previous experience working in a similar role
A sound knowledge of housing law, tenancy rights and budgeting
The ability to work on your own initiative and to react effectively under pressure
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
