To be the recognised expert leading on Patient Safety including being able to provide professional and specialist knowledge on patient safety and safety improvement ensuring that systems thinking, human factors understanding just culture principles are embedded in patient safety processes.

Responsible for

Line management and direct line management of the Patient Safety and Quality Clinical Lead and the Head of Quality Assurance.


Patient Safety and Quality Clinical Lead who will manage the Patient Safety Manager Prevention of Harms Practitioners, Patient Safety Programme Manager (Safety Thermometer) and Administrator - managed by the PS Programme Manager Head of Quality Assurance.

Financial Responsibility


Responsible for identified budgets and delegated budgets related to the Patient Safety team and Quality Assurance Team and new projects associated with service development.

The post holder will authorise payments from budgets and monitor budgets.


Responsible for managing and monitoring the delegated budgets for Patient Safety Team and Quality Assurance Team payroll and associated non-pay costs.
