About us The QuickStart initiative will provide paid job placements for 18-24 year olds based in the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The aim is to provide young people with essential employment skills to enhance their future employment prospects**The Vale Youth Service provides informal and non-formal opportunities to young people aged 11-25 across the Vale of Glamorgan to support them in achieving their full potential. We provide safe environments for young people to enjoy themselves and meet others; feel valued; access information and support; and learn new skills. The Service has a diverse range of youth work interventions on offer within schools and the community.


Our Aims:

  • Strive to deliver high quality, innovative youth work provision through a continued professional development offer for our youth work staff and volunteers.
  • Establish projects and work in partnership with voluntary and third sector organisations, local authority services, town councils and schools in the Vale of Glamorgan to ensure young people have access to high quality provision.
  • Provide opportunities for young people to develop decisionmaking skills in matters which affect them, their peers and their communities.
  • To celebrate the achievements of young people and their contribution to their communities.

About the role
This role is looking to increase the Vale Youth Service's social media presence and digital engagement with young people.

Some of the tasks will include:

  • Build a SWAY page for all provisions and projects.
  • Develop promotional materials such as posters and videos following our branding.
  • Develop infographics to summarise reports and policies for young people.
  • Reporting of analytics.
  • Moderation of our social media platforms.
  • Building social media community links.
  • Running social media campaigns.
  • Filming and editing of promotional materials.
  • Updating Bio with live links.
  • Attend meetings and team events.
  • Attend the Digital task group to support the drive of our digital strategy.
Hours of work -. 25 hours per week
Rate of pay - National Minimum Wage
Location of placement

  • Office base at Civic Offices Barry, with travel across various locations in the Vale of Glamorgan as youth provisions and projects are located across the county.
Contract - Temporary (6 months)


About you

You will need:

  • Knowledge of mediabased tools.
  • Digital technology and social media skills.
  • ICT literate.
  • Knowledge of consultation tools and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to plan effectively and be well organised.
  • Must be prepared to work in the evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate.
