    About the Role:

As an Operational Planner - Overhead Lines, you will be required to live within a 45-minute commute of Swansea, Bristol, Bushbury or Pentir as you will cover our West region supporting 4 overhead line teams spanning these areas.

You'll need to be flexible for quarterly national travel to attend wider team meetings and you will have the flexibility to work from home and/or at a local office whilst not site based dependent on the needs of the business.

The Operational Planner - Overhead Lines will pro-actively support operational activities regarding project management, project scheduling, project estimating and project controls.

You'll be accountable for optimisation, prioritisation, resourcing and scheduling of the operational plan in the current year ensuring zonal targets are fully met and current year planning conflicts are resolved within appropriate timescales.

You'll also monitor progress against outcome targets within zone proactively resolving escalations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage a rolling plan for all operational, unlicensed and capital works within a specified Zone
  • Prioritise all works to be delivered by ET Asset Operations
  • Confirm and share with wider business the agreed operational plan
  • Ensure timely safety risk assessments are initiated where maintenance has been deferred
  • Assess/manage any constraints determining any mitigating actions to meet area targets/ deliverability
  • Collaborate with delivery units to coordinate and manage conflict in the plan
  • Determine work and outage adjustments to meet outcome targets
  • Identify opportunities to flex work within the zone escalating any issues to the cross functional teams
  • Identify the need for work to be replanned and manage change requests to the plan efficiently
  • Determine limiting factors ensuring replanning activities are carried out in a timely manner
  • Ensure planning decisions are documented and communicated to all relevant stakeholders
  • Engage delivery units and Project/Development Engineers on scheme development/management
  • Work with process owners to drive improvements in the core planning process
  • Review and sign off demand at risk in a timely manner
  • Ensure assets are compliant with statutory requirements, company policy obligations
  • Ensure a robust audit trail is maintained, WSEs, Routines and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure operational compliance, safety and delivery within Overhead Lines

Essential:


  • A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK
  • A relevant level 3 qualification or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship
  • Significant experience gained from a Planner role within an operational environment where you have scheduled for multiple remote teams OR notable experience gained from an engineering role within National Grid where you have supported overhead lines
  • Experience of supporting the development of resource plans
  • Experience of working with planning systems and processes
  • Experience of managing and prioritising conflicts in real time
  • Experience of managing and explaining complex issues to resolution

Desirable:


  • An Engineering or Planning level 3 qualification or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship
  • Experience of formulating robust work plans
