FHL is an alternative to traditional day care for young adults with learning disabilities, providing a holistic approach, to support our young peoples development into adulthoodWe continue to develop:
- The fundamentals of communication through the most appropriate medium
- Intensive Interaction, symbol exchange, Makaton and /or language acquisition;
- Confidence, selfesteem and independence skills with friends and in the wider community;
- Physical skills developing functional sitting, standing and walking; access to hydrotherapy/rebound facilities.
In September 2021 FHL went through a successful due diligence process with the DfE and is now a registered Specialist Post 16 Institution, provide education as well as care funded through the EFSA.
The post holder will:
- Establish and sustain the FHL's ethos and strategic direction together with the Trustees and through consultation with the FHL community and wider community including education and social care
- Establish and oversee systems, processes and policies so FHL can operate effectively
- Identify problems and barriers to FHL's effectiveness, and develop strategies for improvement that are realistic, timely and suited to the FHL context
- Make sure these FHL improvement strategies are effectively implemented
- Monitor progress towards achieving the FHL's aims and objectives
- Allocate financial resources appropriately, efficiently and effectively
