About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Legal Entity Control Financial Accountant.

EMEA Controllers group is responsible for regulatory, financial, and management reporting requirements in the region.

As well as forming a key part of the International Controllers organization, the team provides local support for varied financial services business lines as well as the EMEA CFO/management team.


This role is part of the EMEA Legal Entity Controllers team in London and will report day to day to the Legal Entity Controller for the dealer broker entities, with responsibility for supporting the accuracy and integrity of Financial Reporting of the Paris based, European dealer broker entity.

Working within the Legal Entity Control Team, this role also supports the maintenance of a robust financial control environment.

This helps achieve the EMEA Controllers primary objective of ensuring the accuracy of the books and records across entities within the region and the timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities include the performance of financial controls and preparation of financial reports across assigned entities and/or lines of business, providing exposure to a wide range of business lines and banking products.


In this role, you will:


  • Financial controller for the Paris based, European dealer broker entity, Wells Fargo Securities Europe (WFSE).
  • Understand all products/activities of WFSE and ensure these are accounted for appropriately in the general ledger, working closely with US finance/controller teams (under US GAAP).
  • Produce monthly/ quarterly financial accounts for senior management and entity boards including business commentary under French GAAP.
  • Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts in accordance with French GAAP requirements.
  • In conjunction with the EMEA, legal entity statutory accounting, manage the audit process and act as key point of contact with the WFSE auditors.
  • Preparation and documentation of accounting treatment under French GAAP, liaising with Enterprise Accounting Policy as required for the US GAAP equivalent.
  • Develop and perform financial control tasks including analytical review, transaction analysis, reconciliations, substantiation of GL balances, revenue analysis and cost analysis.
  • Participate in new projects or business initiatives and work with departments across the enterprise, including COO, Tax and Finance teams.
  • Participate in new product approval process, ensuring robust control framework over booking model for legal entity.
  • Provide internal reporting to senior management and to the regulatory reporting team.
  • Ensure operational documentation is maintained.
  • In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required, including other ad hoc financial control and reporting tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:


  • Qualified professional accountant with post qualifying experience
  • Degree educated.
  • Must have experience of financial reporting under French GAAP.
  • Experience of investment banking products gained within dealerbroker or banking firms.
  • An interest and understanding of the financial services industry and related products.
  • Strong excel skills with ability to develop efficient and wellcontrolled process.
  • Works well within a team.
  • Confident communicator at all levels in the organisation.
  • Intuitive, fast learner.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently with a team structure.
  • Proficient at French and English language.
  • Good problemsolving skills.
  • Good time management & organisational skills.
  • Experience in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting, Risk Reporting, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • An interest and understanding of the financial services industry and related products.

Job Expectations:


  • Wells Fargo operates a Hybrid working model combining office and home working. The requirement is a minimum of 3 days in the office.
