Description

To work as part of the Multi-professional team providing a high standard of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal midwifery care to women and their families within the integrated maternity service.

To work as part of a continuity of carer team or rotate within all clinical areas within maternity services to support professional development and maintain safe standards of midwifery care in line with service provision.


The post-holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

This midwife is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and is designated to take charge regularly of a ward area or an equivalent sphere within midwifery in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility.

The post-holder will be required to work in both the community and the hospital across a 7 day service including night duties.

The post-holder is expected to supervise junior staff and to be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and/or post-basic students.

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting enthusiastic band 6 Midwives to join our CQC Outstanding midwifery team.


The maternity service provides a high standard of care to the women and pregnant people of Surrey and the surrounding area, supporting the births of 3000 babies a year.

This position is open to midwives who are interested in working within a Continuity of Carer model and are able to meet the challenge of delivering high standards of care, ensuring that each woman's journey to motherhood is an individualised experience.

You must hold UK NMC midwifery registration and have the right to work within the UK.
