The SGHWR decommissioning project is an exciting project that is currently entering a construction phase to install all the necessary equipment and ancillary buildings for the segmentation of the reactor core.

We are looking for an additional APL to support the project and its contractors through the construction and core segmentation phases and into POCO and final decommissioning.

The role will require being part of a team involved in providing technical solutions for complex lifts alongside the mainstream lifting operations associated with a busy decommissioning project.


Key Deliverables

  • Participate in, as required, investigations of incidents associated with lifting equipment, safety monitoring activities covering the use of lifting equipment and regular reviews of safety performance during lifting operations.
  • Provide guidance on the lifting and movement of loads and preparation of method statements.
  • Oversee/arrange the training required to operate lifting machines and to use lifting accessories.
  • Assist with the selection of contractors to use lifting equipment, and to carry out and support the maintenance and statutory examinations and inspections if required
  • Advise on the selection, purchasing and hiring of suitable lifting equipment.
  • Ensure that adequate records are maintained detailing individuals who are authorised to carry out lifting operations.
  • Be responsible for controlling lifting operations within your area of responsibility, ensuring they are carried out safely and according to legislation.
  • Competently implement the Company Management system associated with lifting.

Qualifications

  • Authorised Person (Lifting Operations) by CITB / CPCS Essential
  • Able to write and work to detailed working instructions Essential
  • Knowledge of examination requirement for lifting equipment and able to carry them out Essential
  • Experience in training and the operation of cranes and fork lift trucks Essential
  • Safety Qualification such as IOSH Supervising Safely Essential

Please be aware this role holder requires security clearance, or the ability to obtain said clearance.

There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
