Lead Recovery Practitioner -Coastguard & Horizon Theatres


We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, & motivated practitioner to lead our Paediatric Recovery team at Band 6 level.

The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is the largest specialist Paediatric centre in the southwest region with a state-of-the-art operating theatre & post-operative recovery facility.


We are looking for the right individual to:

  • Supervise & support clinical support staff & junior staff in the delivery of care in the recovery room, providing education, training & mentorship to meet development needs.
  • Deliver high quality patient care, which is clinically effective, evidence based & appropriate.
  • Assess, plan, implement & evaluate care as part of a collaborative programme.
It is essential that you are a qualified RSCN or Operating Department Practitioner, with current experience within Paediatric Recovery. Immediate/Advanced Paediatric Life Support & High Dependency Qualification is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a department which is now the largest specialist paediatric centre in the Southwest region

Full time (37.5 Hrs/week + 1 on call commitment)


As part of the senior practice team, the role of the Senior Recovery Practitioner is to be responsible for the delivery and development of quality, evidence based post-operative care.

The post holder, will work alongside the other senior lead taking responsibility for the day to day management of the units and staff.

Through their specialist knowledge and skills the post holder is a clinical expert within the department providing support, guidance and expertise to all colleagues irrespective of role.

As a collaborative post, you will work closely with the wider recovery team as well as the MDT to maintain and develop our standards of practice.

Clinical leads are role models who contribute to and maintain the professional atmosphere of the department.

The role requires a dedication to your own continual professional development as well as the mentorship and development of the junior team.
