  • AD1207The AUB Civic and Cultural directorate is an exciting new initiative to bring together the cultural assets of the organisation to develop new external partnerships. This new role is focused on maximising the value and accessibility of collections and cultural assets held by Arts University Bournemouth (AUB).
Reporting to the Director of Civic and Cultural Engagement, the post holder will work closely with Head of Library and Special Collections, TheGallery Manager and Exhibitions Curator,

and the MoDiP Museum Curator,


The post will ensure professional standards in the management, development, engagement and accessibility of AUB's collections which include artwork, objects, archives and social histories/intangible heritage.


The postholder will support learning, teaching and research activities of staff and students, as well as diverse forms of external engagement, including contemporary collecting and co-production with communities.

The role will include fundraising, audience development, managing volunteers and interns, and connecting with appropriate specialist professional networks.


A key function of the role will be to take responsibility for ensuring collections across the directorate are managed to recognised standards of curatorial care, and implementing policies and processes to catalogue and conserve a wide range of materials.


Collections include, but are not limited to: AUB Art Collections, Costume Collection, the Thorp Model Marking Archive, Personal Papers, and Materials Library.

The post holder will work alongside and be supported by colleagues in the directorate including Library, TheGallery and
_Museum of Design in Plastics _(MoDiP).

The post holder will be highly organised and lead on projects across a wide portfolio of activity.

They will have excellent project management skills, excellent written and verbal communication, experience of monitoring and recording activity, experience of planning and the ability to write and deliver reports to senior management.

The successful applicant will need to be a confident self-starter. They will be able to evidence their experience of coordinating or delivering a range of appropriate skills.

They will have a good understanding of the role and will be able to evidence a strong commitment to delivering excellent engagement experiences.
