HR and Compliance Assistant

3 days per week Term time plus 2 weeks during the school holidays

***We are seeking to appoint an HR and Compliance Assistant with enthusiasm and flexibility, who will assist in the management and organisation of the HR and compliance function of the school. As much of the work is confidential, sensitivity and absolute confidentiality and integrity are essential. Highly accurate administration skills are essential.

Core duties include;

  • On the direction of the HR Administrator, organise recruitment advertisements, job descriptions and interview schedules for staff appointments.
  • Assist with the recruitment and appointment of new staff and preparation of paperwork for staff induction.
  • Liaise with HR legal advisors when required.
  • In conjunction with HR Administrator, write correspondence and check documentation for staff appointments, including the administration of Disclosure and Barring Service, references, medical and other checks on newly appointed staff in accordance with guidance within the 'Safer Recruitment policy'.
  • In conjunction with HR Administrator assist with the maintenance of the Central Register of Appointments, for all staff, governors and volunteers etc across the whole school, in line with DFE regulations.
  • Maintain an accurate and up to data staff database and run personnel reports as required.
  • Record staff absence, including holiday, sickness etc and produce reports as required for the Executive Team and Governors.
  • Advise and administer maternity/paternity leave.
  • Administer teaching and nonteaching pension schemes, in liaison with payroll.
  • Prepare staff contracts for issue once all preemployment checks are complete.
  • Arrange for temporary cover in the absence of staff and liaise with supply agencies when required.
  • Liaise with bursary staff on matters relating to payroll.
  • Liaise with the Estates Manager to maintain up to date and accurate Risk assessments for events and trips.
  • Monitor all accidents and near misses; ensure these are reported to both the Estates Manager and the Bursar.

Working hours
Monday to Friday, 221⁄2 hours per week term time only plus 2 weeks. Working hours will be discussed at interview. Kent College Pembury operates its own salary scale. The salary is dependent upon experience but is likely to be in the range of SSG7.1 -SSG8.1 (£13,000.00-£15,000.00 actual prorate salary)
