I am currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join one of our lovely Special Schools in Halifax.

The school caters for young people with a range of SEND needs aged 8-16 years old.

The young people who attend this school come from a range of backgrounds and childhood experiences but all have associated Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Some other needs include ADHD, Autism and Speech/Communication difficulties.

All of staff in the school are equipped with in-depth therapeutic training and support, informed by trauma and attachment.


The role is mainly to:

  • Support teaching and learning in the classroom
  • Work with children 1:1 or with small groups of students
  • Manage classroom resources
  • Take children on educational trips and visits
  • Have their lunch with children who struggle socially
  • Keep children safe when they are experiencing heightened behaviours with strong behaviour management skills and excellent communication
