Description

As an HGV and LGV Mechanic at CG Utilities Ltd, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs).

Your expertise in diagnosing and rectifying mechanical issues will be crucial in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our vehicles.

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs on HGVs and LGVs in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines and health and safety regulations
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system faults using advanced diagnostic equipment
  • Identify and rectify any defects or malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize vehicle downtime and prevent further damage
  • Perform necessary repairs, including but not limited to engine overhauls, brake replacements, suspension repairs, and clutch replacements
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including service reports, job sheets, and parts requisition forms
  • Provide support during vehicle breakdowns and emergencies, ensuring that the necessary repairs are carried out promptly and efficiently
  • Conduct MOT inspections and ensure compliance with legal requirements by undertaking necessary repairs or maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment and ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained
  • Liaise with other members of the maintenance team and provide clear communication on repair status and vehicle availability

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working as an HGV and LGV mechanic is essential
  • Excellent diagnostic and problemsolving skills
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in HGVs and LGVs
  • Familiarity with a wide range of vehicle makes and models, including MAN, Mercedes, Volvo, and DAF
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and computerized systems
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and the importance of adhering to them
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively in a fastpaced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a valid driving license with HGV classification (Class C+E) (preferred)
  • Relevant vocational training or certification in vehicle mechanics (preferred)
