Your new role, what's involved?

  • As Junior Land Consultant based in either our Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Perth offices, you will be directly supporting the wider team in the identification of landowners, occupiers and other parties that hold a legal interest in land, through research and interpretation and research of Registers of Scotland titles and Sasines.
  • You will also support our teams in the delivery of land access, landowner engagement, stakeholder engagement, and supporting projects through to the consenting stages / statutory processes.
  • Contribute to the WSP Land Team delivery and success of highprofile infrastructure projects within Scotland and the wider UK and Ireland business. You will be supporting projects in multiple sectors, including the Energy sector, where the team supports the development of critical infrastructure that is crucial for the Net Zero economy.

YOUR TEAM

  • The opportunity sits within our Land team in Scotland, which is currently 35 strong and made up of land consultants, property specialists and utility and topographical surveyors working across our Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth offices.
  • We work closely with our 250 Land colleagues across the UK and Ireland delivering land services on a variety of projects across the Energy, Water, Road, Rail and Active-Travel sectors.
  • We are the largest Land Referencing business in the UK, having delivered high profile projects such as the A9 Dualling and HS
  • We actively support people in achieving professional accreditations and have Chartered Geographers (CGeog), Chartered Town Planners (RTPI) and Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) who can support your career progression.
  • We have multiple clients in the Transport, Energy, Rail and Local Authority Sectors. Specifically, you will be supporting infrastructure projects that are critical for the deployment of renewable energy, to help the UK and Ireland economies to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
  • This role will report to a Consultant / Senior Land Consultant within the Land Team for WSP in Scotland.
  • Full training will be provided combined with learning onthejob as part of our projects.
  • We are flexible with the role location and can combine this with home working in a hybrid role.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Recently graduated with a degree in geography or another relevant discipline which has provided you with an understanding of land-use and/or landownership in the UK.
  • The role will require visits to sites as part of a team, to speak with landowners and stakeholders. This will involve periods staying away from home (accommodation and expenses are provided).
  • Good communication and organisational skills, with demonstrable experience in managing data.
  • A degree of comfort in reading and using maps in a technical way.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, with a comfort in being able to write and articulate your findings.
  • Experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • A full drivers' licence is essential.
