Moonstruck Astronaut is a not-for-profit community theatre company based in Newport, Shropshire.Our mission is to bring the local community of Newport and surrounding areas together through theatre projects and foster friendship, self-expression, belonging and confidence, first with our primary-school age children, then extending to young people and adults in time.
We run the Newport Youth Theatre for 7-13 year olds and outdoor 'Drama in the Forest' workshops for 6-12 year olds.
The theatre company's work is expanding and this is a very exciting time to join us.We have been awarded a National Lottery Project Grant to run the Drama in the Forests 2024, this arts administrator role is part of this grant.

Job purpose:
We are looking for an Arts Administrator to help us advance our administrative processes in running our projects and contribute to creating a stable clerical infrastructure for the community theatre company to operate from.
They are to assume responsibility for the administrative tasks of the theatre company so that our AD can maintain her energy levels to be able to project manage and deliver our theatre projects well whilst creative producing for the theatre company.
Main Duties:
- Provide dedicated access support for the AD, assisting in the organisation and prioritisation of tasks to enhance workflow efficiency. This involves closely collaborating with the AD to identify highpriority deadlines, establishing a structured schedule that accommodates working styles and neurodiverse needs.
Assist the AD in project managing the Drama in the Forest workshops.
Manage Facebook and Instagram social media accounts, reply to enquiries, posting regularly etc.
Manage communications with parents and volunteers.
Maintain registers and parents database.
Assist with the admin involved in recruitment and management of staff and volunteers e.g. DBS checks, policies & procedures, training, supporting, and thanking.
Manage filing system.
Assist AD to meet grant funding deadlines and improve organization.
Assist the start and end of the Drama in the Forests at Wrekin Forest School on 25th & 28th March, 5th & 9th August.
The role requires a proactive approach, ensuring that the AD can focus on her most critical tasks with clarity and confidence.
Essential skills required:
Excellent I.T skills.
Social media experience.
Excellent organisation, attention to detail and admin skills.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Pro-active approach to tasks and activities.
Excellent interpersonal skills with children, volunteers and adults.
Desirable skills:
Managing budgets and spreadsheets.
Experience of managing the financial aspects of running a business (e.g. cash flow forecasts).
Interest in managing data and statistics.
Experience of access support.
Safeguarding awareness and training.
